2nd Runnings!

So I'm starting this over again in 2019 in a attempt to start creating again and to share and connect with those that I don't get see or speak with on the regular basis, but first a little history.

In 2013 I originally started this blog as a self motivator to create art or in 2019 we call it "content" and this blog served as the spot to post that art or whatever it may have been. Music, homebrewing, personal writings... whatever I wanted I had no real rules or guidelines. From 2008 – 2013 I was always working towards trying to make something happen, get a better job, build a band with my friends and overall I believed I was going to work in the “film industry” being creative. With all that time not documenting anything I choose to start in 2013. With only a few posts, I was slowly slipping back into my old ways again.

November 28th, 2018: I sit here and I write this in Los Angeles and not a lot has changed in the last 10 years since I graduated college. I’m still feeling lost, I’m still trying to figure it out and make something happen. Bare with me on this as this isn’t going to go down a dark path, just a little insight. When I started this blog, I was experiencing similar emotions and upon starting it, it helped me grow and move past to a point. In 2014, my life changed completely, I went from having a some what reliable job to pretty much working on layaway to ultimately having make the decision. Make a move back to LA and give the industry a chance or stay in Illinois and figure out the next step. Considering I already was in Illinois for 6 years trying to "figure it out" I felt it was time to move back and work it out in LA. The blog pretty much died before it even started and I've been away from creating anything for too long.


Between 2014 and now, I've been in a creative funk where it seems like life just kept kicking me back further and further. In 2018 I just was feed up with it, So decided to start this up again with the intent to be more active on it. Few major changes are: I've built up a backlog and will be posting regularly, It's not just music related this time. For those interested, below is what I have planned coming up over the next year.

Apeman Proverbs: Fridge Beer

Meaning:   Fridge Beer spotted circa 2011 Chicago, Humboldt Park Cold beer in a refrigerator for anyone to drink that enters one’s home. This is not to be mistaken as a BEER FRIDGE, though a Beer Fridge maybe the place where Fridge Beer is stored they are not of equal value. This beer is offered, Do you want one? Rather than do you mind if I have a beer. Guest shall not have to ask for a Fridge Beer as it's usually a “ everyones ” beer, but there are no rules to this and is all up to the owner’s discretion. Fridge Beer isn’t whether or not you have it, but it’s a state of being, it just is. If no beer is in the Fridge, then you do not have Fridge Beer. If Beer is consumed in full and needs to be restock, that is not Fridge Beer.  Beer Karma points are awarded to those that follow the Fridge Beer rules. Everything Went Black (Black IPL)

Final Look of Everything Went Black My love for dark beers isn't limited to only Stouts and Porters. Black IPAs or Cascadian Dark Ales whatever you choose to call them, they are one of the unfortunate left behind styles. Yes, it's still being brewed by some breweries just not at the rate as it once did, even Firestone discontinued Wookey Jack . I found a love/obsession for them after having Lagunitas NightTime . If you want my opinion I think Dark Ale or Cascadian Dark Ale is probably a better descriptor for the style but honestly, I don't care. I had this beer called KCCO once and I think this was the moment that opened my mindset to the possibilities with darker styles. It was like a smooth cold brew coffee with little to no bite to it. After learning more about the style Black Lager/Schwarzbier style I started to seek them out and would always try when I saw them on tap. Prior to this beer I only made one dark beer and it was a stout that didn't turn out good...

Apeman Proverbs: BYOB

B.Y.O.B is a common acronym that means Bring-Your-Own-Beer! ...But this is a misconception, because when you BYOB you bring it for everyone. Beer Karma never rewards you when you aren’t sharing your tasty beverage, it is after all meant to be drank. BYOB does allow you the freedom to bring the beer you want to drink, you don’t have to cater to all the guests, but it’s wise too and it’s important to take care of the host at the party. BYOB is a pretty simple way to gain Beer Karma points:   - Always Bring the Beer you like and want to drink - Always take care of the host: if the host of the party doesn’t like the beer you like, be sure to at least bring a 6 pack of the beer the host enjoys. This is just being a good guest. - If you bring “special” beer or Beer you’re specifically saving, then you must have your own cooler.  – Beer Karma will reward those that bring beer for everyone on top of your special beer.
